IPE Electricity Working Group Prepares For NETA
Important steps were taken yesterday in drawing up futures and physical contract specifications for the markets that will exist under the new electricity trading arrangements (NETA) due to begin in October 2000. The IPE plans to launch futures contracts for electricity in the second quarter of next year.

CME Names New Staff Officers
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange today announced the promotions of two new officers on its staff, approved this week by the Executive Committee of the CME Board of Directors: John F, Curran, promoted to Vice President, Strategic Development, from Senior Director, Financial Product Research, and Arman Falsafi, promoted to Vice President, Technology Strategy, from Senior Director, Technology Strategy.

CBOT's November Volume At 19,818,308 Contracts
The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today trading volume of 19,818,308 contracts for November 1999, up 5.0% from October 1999. CBOT volume reached more than one million contracts per day on 10 of the 21 trading days in November. Total exchange month-end open interest: 4,046,640. CBOT average daily volume: 943,729. CBOE Sets All Time Annual And Monthly Volume Records: Sets Single Day Volume Record - Average Daily Volume At Record Levels
The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced yesterday that it set new records in annual and monthly volume. Total option volume during the month of November set a new record for monthly volume and average daily volume. The record setting month already guarantees a new annual volume record at CBOE for 1999. Turnover On SWX Eurobonds Surpasses One Billion Level
By the first day of December 1999, bonds worth a total of CHF 1 billion in principal value had changed hands via the SWX Eurobonds trading platform. Ever since foreign investors were freed in March of this year from paying Swiss stamp tax on foreign bonds, turnover on SWX Eurobonds has risen continuously. In November, Eurobonds involving more than USD 71 million were traded; in euro-denominated bonds, turnover surpassed EUR 94 million.

Singapore Exchange Launched As The First Demutualised, Integrated Exchange In Asia-Pacific

NYMEX Western Electricity Margins To Be Split Along With Contract Unit
The New York Mercantile Exchange has announced that it would halve the margins on its California-Oregon border and Palo Verde electricity futures contracts when the contract unit is split at the close of business on Monday, December 6.
